The Keeshond Club Open Registers for PHPT

The test for PHPT is now commercially available via Dr Richard Goldstein DVM and his website provides detailed information on both the condition and also the testing procedure.
PHPT in the Keeshond has an autosomal dominant mode of inheritance. The test confirms whether a dog is ‘positive’ for the PHPT gene or ‘negative’ for the PHPT gene. There is no carrier state in a dominant mode of inheritance.
The DNA test does not identify the clinical disease but rather indicates the presence of the gene. This indicates the genetic potential to develop the disease later in life.
If both sire and dam are negative for the defective gene then the progeny will be hereditarily negative (negative by descent) as they cannot inherit what their parents did not have.

The test for PHPT is now commercially available via Dr Richard Goldstein DVM and his website provides detailed information on both the condition and also the testing procedure.
PHPT in the Keeshond has an autosomal dominant mode of inheritance. The test confirms whether a dog is ‘positive’ for the PHPT gene or ‘negative’ for the PHPT gene. There is no carrier state in a dominant mode of inheritance.
The DNA test does not identify the clinical disease but rather indicates the presence of the gene. This indicates the genetic potential to develop the disease later in life.

Internationaal open register betreffende PHPT
De test voor PHPT is nu commercieel beschikbaar via Dr Richard Goldstein DVM, en zijn website geeft gedetailleerde informatie zowel aangaande de ziekte als aangaande de testprocedure.
De vererving van PHPT bij de Wolfspitz / Keeshond gebeurt autosomaal dominant. De test bevestigt of een hond “positief” is voor het PHPT gen of “negatief” voor het PHPT gen. Er is geen ‘‘dragerstadium’’ bij een dominante wijze van vererving.
De DNA-test identificeert niet de aanwezigheid van de aandoening zelf, maar wijst eerder op de aanwezigheid van het gen. Dit duidt dan op het voorhanden zijn van de genetische potentie om de ziekte in het latere leven te ontwikkelen.
Indien zowel de dekreu als de fokteef negatief zijn voor het defecte gen dan zullen de nakomelingen negatief zijn ‘door geboorte’ aangezien zij niet kunnen vererven wat hun ouders niet hebben.

Kansainvälinen avoin PHPT-rekisteri
PHPT-testi on saatavissa tohtori Richahard Goldsteinin laboratoriosta, ja hänen kotisivunsa antavat tarkempaa tietoa testauksen ehdoista ja suorittamisesta.
PHPT periytyy keeshondeilla autosomaalisti ja dominoivasti. Testillä saadaan selvitetyksi, onko koiran PHPT-geeni ”positiivinen” vai ”negatiivinen”. Dominoivasti periytyvän geenin tapauksessa ei voi olla kantajia.
Suoritettu testi ei osoita sairauden kliinistä ilmenemistä vaan kertoo ainoastaan sellainen geenin olemassaolosta, joka saattaa aiheuttaa sairauden myöhemmin.
Jos sekä jalostusuros että -emä ovat geenin suhteen negatiivisia, niiden jälkeläiset ovat perimältään negatiivisia, koska ne eivät voi periä positiivista geeniä kummankaan vanhemman puolelta.

Le régistre international pour la PHPT est accessible à tous
Le test pour la PHPT est maintenant commercialement disponible via Dr Richard Goldstein DVM, et son site internet donne beaucoup d’information aussi bien concernant la maladie que concernant la procédure du test.
L’hérédité de la PHPT chez le Spitz Loup / Keeshond se fait d’une manière autosomale dominante. Le test confirme si un chien est « positif » ou « négatif » pour le gène PHPT. Il n’y a pas de notion de « porteur» avec cette manière de transmission autosomale dominante.
Le test ADN n’identifie pas la présence de l’affection même, mais indique plutôt la présence du gène. Ceci désigne alors la disponibilité du potentiel génétique pour être atteint de la maladie dans la vie future.
Si aussi bien le mâle que la femelle sont négatifs pour le gène défectueux, alors les descendants seront négatifs « par naissance », vu qu’ils ne peuvent pas hériter de ce que leurs parents n’ont pas.

Internationellt öppet register för PHPT
PHPT testet är numera allmänt tillgängligt via Dr Richard Goldstein DVM (Doktor Veterinär medicin) och hans website tillhandahåller detaljerad information både vad gäller förutsättningar för sjukdomen och hur testet går till.
PHPT hos Keeshond styrs av en autosomal dominant gen vid nedärvning. Testet bekräftar om hunden är “positiv” eller “negativ” för PHPT genen. Det finns ingen bärarstatus i en dominant gen nedärvning.
DNA testet identifierar inte den kliniska sjukdomen utan indikerar bara förekomsten av genen, dvs. indikerar den genetiska potentialen att få sjukdomen senare i livet.
Om både hanen och tiken är negativa för genen är även avkomman ärftligt negativa eftersom de inte kan ärva det föräldrarna inte har.
